CULTURE WAR

Wait, what's wrong with community organizers?

It's 3:21 and I still can't fall asleep. I've started three drafts and scrapped them all. So. Goodnight.

i don't think anyone realizes that she's going to end up our president if mccain has a stroke or something...

"To sleep, perchance to dream-
ay, there's the rub."

I turned off the tv when she said that, I originally thought McCain had made a smart choice....they shouldn't have let her speak....just another nail...

was a huge anathallo fan until i found this blog. the ignorance and desperation to be "hip" is disappointing. still love the music, but some of the novelty is gone.

Why so judgmental, anonymous? Everyone's got an opinion to talk about, ideas to share. I don't think anyone is trying to be anything other than open and have a little community.

Really? Ignorance and desperation to be hip? I'm not even sure where that comes from, so I'm assuming you're (somewhat un)respectfully disagreeing with some of the 'thallo political views?

Sheesh, it's not like anyone compared her to Peggy Hill.

Let's try to keep things respectful and mature.

I sympathize a little with anonymous. It is really hip to like Obama. Now, I won't dare criticize the sincerity of anyones political views, but I would like to point out that people should look a little further into Mr. Obama before they jump on his bandwagon. And for the record, Sarah Palin's speech was brilliant and inspiring.

yeah, i'm not sure why anyone was under the impression that i was being judgmental. i apologize if i came off as so. i was only giving MY opinion (being open as you said we all should). i was by no means calling any person(s) ignorant.

Is Obama considered this "hip" candidate just because he appeals to younger people? Who gives a shit if he's a hip choice. If you're into him, then you're going to vote for him. That's all that matters. I'm glad he's so "hip," because he sure as shit is more interested in my (our) future than McCain is. My opinion, of course.

Also, the ignorance comment makes me laugh. That sounds like something my father would say. Something along the lines of, "If you're a Christian voting for a democrat, no matter how much you've educated yourself on him/her, you are just plain ignorant. Also, you are going to hell."

No no no no no no.

We're not going down this street. I was frustrated after Governor Palin's speech, put up her picture and spent the next two hours writing and deleting thoughts. Maybe I shouldn't have even hit "post." But we're not going to get into it in the comments section like this.

Aaron, I love you. You know this. But I'm saying no.

And just because I'm feeling cheesy. Why I like Obama (there are more than a few reasons) - but I generally like how he sees the world. Republicans and Democrats are both patriots (see, cheesy) who love their country and have different beliefs on how to shape their country. That... to me... sounds so much better than listening to an evening that antagonizes community organizers.

The difference between impugning someone's ideas and someone's character.

And maybe I'm too in the tank for Obama to hear when people feel like he's attacking who someone is rather than the ideas they believe... the seven houses line, I guess (which was the counterpunch to all those celebrity lines). Anyways.

In general, I like a world where both people honestly just disagree... and it doesn't make them bad people for it. Both in candidates and in comments section. Not that anyone was calling anyone names. But I didn't even want to get close to that here.

Okay. Four paragraphs later.... PEACE!

i don't think Palin dissed community organizers in general. but that Obama seems to think being a community organizer is great experience for presidency. i'm not saying it's not. but his lack of voting anything other than "present" while he actually has been in a legislative position is not helpful to that claim. my opinion: her remarks about him being a community organizer were merely going after his lack of experience. i think both palin and obama don't have the experience (ie, a record for us to follow) to be president, although palin is merely running for vp, she could still acquire that position if something were to happen to mccain. anyways, neither choice offers much "hope" to america. they're not addressing the real issues facing the future of the republic of the usa.
